Asparagus Sweet Purple (S. Melongena)

We have found this variety to be far sweeter than our regular green asparagus, especially when picked and eaten raw straight from the ground. Sweet purple asparagus produces larger spears, less fibrous and 20% higher sugar content than green asparagus. So it is often eaten raw. The purple colour will turn green when cooked. High yield.
