The hard-shelled fruits, edible when young, are made into water bottles, dippers, spoons, pipes, and many other utensils and containers. 

Growing tip: If you want your Swan gourds to have a bent neck you will have to grow them on the ground or support the weight of them somehow. If they hang with the weight the neck will be straight.
