Description
Tomatillo Purple (Physalis ixocarpa)
Tomatillo purple originates from Mexico and Central America. The purple colour develops after the tomatillos mature and burst open their papery husks. The flavour is tangier than its green-coloured one. Tomatillo salsa verde is by far the most popular way to eat tomatillos. Also, they can be roasted and served as a side dish and make excellent jams and chutneys. Harvest the fruit when the paper husks begin to dry and the fruits feel slightly soft. Fruits that are ripe pull easily from the plant.
